Creamy Golden Mac & Cheese

My husband’s mac and cheese would have to be my favorite side dish on the holidays or any gathering. This creamy golden and smoky mac and cheese is so savory and delectable.

If you’re looking for a side dish that will feed a large crowd, then this recipe is perfect! We love to make this ahead of time and pop it in the oven just before guests arrive.

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 Box of Elbow Macaroni

  • 6 Tablespoons Butter

  • 6 Tablespoons All-Purpose Flour

  • 6 Cups of Whole Milk

  • 5 Cups of Shredded Sharp Cheese

  • 1 Cup of Smoked Gouda Cheese

  • 1 Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese

  • 1 Tablespoon of Mustard Powder

  • Salt & Pepper to Taste

Directions:

  1. Boil water in a large stock pot and preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Follow box directions to cook elbow macaroni. Drain.

  3. To make the cheese sauce: Melt the butter and then add flour and stir for 5 minutes on medium heat. Now, add milk and whisk on high heat until completely combined. Turned down heat to low heat and add cheese and sprinkle in mustard powder, salt & pepper. Stir until combined.


  4. Add drained macaroni into 9x13 dish and pour cheese mixture over top. Combine throughly.

  5. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over top and bake in the oven on 375 degrees for 25 minutes or until top is golden brown.

  6. Serve and enjoy!
